Star Wars fans losing their minds over official look at General Grievous pre-cyborg

The iconic character looked very different

General Grievous has become, despite his dark side, a fan-favourite of Star Wars fans, perhaps due to his wielding of multiple lightsabres, and his general aesthetic.

The cyborg became a highlight of the prequel trilogy, going on to appear in several animated Star Wars adventures, but little is known about his life before his robotic body.

We’ve had lore drops in comics, and discussions on message boards, but now we have a new image of Grievous before his cyborg enhancements took over his entire body, and it’s all thanks to Fortnite, of all things.

Showcased on Twitter by Star Wars Holocron, a loading screen from the latest season of Fortnite is displayed, and it depicts Grievous very differently.

In the image, he has only upgraded his arms, leaving his body and head without augmentation, and it’s exciting to fans to get more information and images of the legendary Sith collaborator.

“That’s actually fire,” said one fan after getting a glimpse of the General.

Another fan notes, “As much as people dog on Epic Game and Fortnite, you can’t shy away from their commitment to the source material and looking it the lore of these characters. That’s super dope to see.”

That’s a rather salient point, actually, Epic Games doesn’t need to drop deep lore on us in these events and crossovers, but in this case they’re actually using the game to expand what we know.

Usually these kinds of deep dives into Star Wars history are saved for comics or novels, but now we have it in a game being played by millions of fans, perhaps putting it in front of more eyes than the pages of a comic could.

It’s a shrewd move from Disney to give out lore details like this, and it has countless fans impressed, and hoping for more.
