GTA 6 fans furious over pricing update: 'makes me sick'

Fans are understandably angry

Ahead of Microsoft’s announcement that it would be increasing the prices of both its software and hardware, GTA VI fans are starting to feel uncertain over potential costs.

Last week saw Microsoft reveal that it would be increasing the prices of all its hardware and software, starting with the cost of its consoles which has already gone live and ending with game price increases which will come into effect later this year.

There is now another year to go until GTA VI launches. Check out its trailer below!

The price increase will see future AAA releases cost as much as $80 for Xbox, and as you can expect, users are less than pleased, especially as the economy is facing its own challenges in recent years.

Not only that but with Grand Theft Auto VI now delayed until May next year, the price increase would have already gone into effect, meaning that it is pretty much confirmed that it will cost $80 minimum for Xbox users.

News of this was featured over on r/GTA6 following Microsoft’s announcement with one user posting the following:

“I got absolutely destroyed a few weeks ago on here for saying that I think GTA will cost $80.

After Microsoft announced their price increases on consoles and games today, I would say it’s guaranteed GTA 6 is going to be $80.”

It was not long before the comments came flooding in and it seems as though the realisation of such an expensive price tag has finally hit fans.

“I think it’s gonna be like $80 base game, $100 deluxe edition, $120+ for anything more they can dream up as an ultra, gold, platinum edition etc,” the top comment read.

Not only that but user prettyboylee expressed another concern.

“I wonder how this s*it would affect international customers,” they shared.

“$120 would be 500 bucks in my currency. Which in terms of purchasing power is equivalent to about 300USD.”

For user JVKExo, this potential price tag is a step too far.

“Some of you saying you’d pay for a $100 base game make me sick,” they expressed.

We still have a year to go until Grand Theft Auto VI is released and with costs increasing on a daily basis, we can only imagine how much it will retail for upon launch.
