Ubisoft's Open-World Avatar Game Could Be Coming Much Sooner Than Expected

Ubisoft's Open-World Avatar Game Could Be Coming Much Sooner Than Expected

Prominent insider Tom Henderson has tweeted out what he claims to be Frontiers of Pandora's release date, and it's not far away.

With so much news coming out lately about the Avatar film series, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that there’s also a pretty exciting game title in the works. I’m of course talking about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - an open-world title from Ubisoft, which was first announced all the way back in 2017.

We got our first look at the game just over a year ago now, and it’s looking pretty spectacular - we’ll be able to explore a never-before-seen area of Pandora as a Na’vi, fighting to survive. The different locations shown in the trailer look absolutely gorgeous - whether you’re a fan of the first movie or not, I don’t think many people could be faced with this and not want to venture into every corner of the map.

Take a look at the trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora below.

Unfortunately though, the game hasn’t been given a solid release date yet - it’s supposed to come out some time in 2022, but much like God of War Ragnarök, that’s all we know. Officially, that is, because as reported by DSOGaming, prominent insider Tom Henderson has tweeted out what he claims to be the release date for Frontiers of Pandora’s (as well as the next Need for Speed’s).

“The next Need for Speed [instalment] is due to launch on November 4th and sources have suggested that the current plan for Ubisoft's Avatar title is due to launch on November 18th,” he tweeted.

This does line up with some stuff we already knew - previously, Ubisoft confirmed that the game would be releasing this financial year (before April 2023). Given that the movie sequel (The Way of Water) is coming to cinemas this December, it was speculated that the game could also release around then, to tie in with it, so 18 November would work perfectly for this.

As always with leaks and rumours, do take it with a pinch of salt until it’s actually confirmed, but assuming it’s true, we’re probably due some big updates on Frontiers of Pandora very soon.
