Ubisoft announces limited-time free download you've 48 hours to claim

Don't wait around

Ubisoft has announced a special limited-time free download, but we have to warn you that you only have 48 hours to claim it. I mean, I guess the clue was in the fact we said it's a "limited-time free download".

It was a very solid showing for Ubisoft during its special Summer Games Fest-adjacent presentation. We got updates on Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows, plus the unexpected news that Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake is still alive and only coming six years after it was first announced.

Fans of free things will be glad to know Ubisoft's free-to-play shooter XDefiant also got some love. We learned that the game's first season of content is coming 2 July, and will feature a slew of brand-new maps and modes.

In just a few weeks XDefiant is getting a brand-new faction and three new maps: Clubhouse, Daytona, and Rockefeller. We can also expect a new mode in the form of the capture the flag.

But that's not all. We can also expect - and pay attention because this was the limited-time freebie I was talking about earlier - three free weapon skins. All you need to do is play the game in the next 48 hours.

Now, if you're the kind of person that cares what their gun looks like, I daresay this is your time. If not? Well, I guess the world spins madly on regardless.

Do remember XDefiant is free and currently available on all platforms, so this 48-hour freebie is one of those rare freebies that is genuinely, properly free.
