Ubisoft will kick off their year with the release of The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown on 18 January, 2024.

Ubisoft may be struggling with its The Sands of Time remake, but The Lost Crown appears to be shaping up very nicely indeed. From the team over at Ubisoft Montpellier, The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a brand new Metroidvania that sees players explore a variety of locations, from the ‘majestic Citadel of Knowledge’ to the ‘colourful landscapes of the Hyrcanian Forest’. You’ll take on the role of Sargon, who’ll face off against a number of mythological foes throughout his journey.

Take a look at The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in action below.

The game will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and on PC via the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store. It’ll also join Ubisoft. If you choose to pick up the Deluxe Edition or if you subscribe to Ubisoft, you can actually access the game a couple of days earlier on 15 January.

If you’re unsure whether it’s for you or not, a free-to-download demo will become available on 11 January. Available across all platforms, the demo will permit players to sample an adequate portion of the game. Given how many disastrous launches we’ve had in recent years, it is so refreshing to see demos return in all their glory. It’s so helpful to try before you buy, saving you dropping a large wad of money on a buggy release.

The Lost Crown teases that “players will discover a variety of environments inspired by Persian mythology. By acquiring new time powers, unlocking unique abilities, and combining them in combat, Sargon will progressively delve deeper into Mount Qaf, solving puzzles, finding secrets, and completing exciting side quests.” The demo launches in just a few days, so mark it on your calendar.
