The devs behind Assassin's Creed Shadows have big plans for Assassin's Creed Odyssey’s canon protagonist Kassandra, but it seems that they’re planning to wrap her story up in some upcoming DLC (and not a full-blown sequel).
At this point, trying to keep up with the story of Assassin’s Creed is like trying to watch every episode of a long-running soap opera.
For a start, Ubisoft has released fourteen mainline games. There are also around seventeen spin-off games, most of which are canon. Don’t even get me started on the books, or the fact that the 2016 Assassin’s Creed film is apparently canon, too.
My point is, wrapping your head around the ongoing plot is a little difficult, which is probably why a lot of people were confused when a statue of Kassandra, Assassin's Creed Odyssey’s protagonist, was added to a side quest in a new update for Assassin's Creed Shadows.

For context, Assassin's Creed Shadows is set in 1576, and Kassandra was born in 458 BCE… which would mean that the events of Assassin's Creed Shadows take place over 2,000 years after Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
So, how has Kassandra managed to deliver a massive statue of herself to Japan, when she should have already been dead for 2,000 years? That’s because Kassandra got her hands on the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus during Assassin's Creed Odyssey’s story, which makes her effectively immoral.
As detailed in an article by Gamesradar+, the team behind Assassin's Creed Shadows intends to follow this up in some way down the line, revealing that they’ve already “connected the dots together”.

Simon Lemay-Comtois, who was the Associate Game Director for Assassin's Creed Shadows and a game designer for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, outright stated as much during an interview with YouTuber JorRaptor.
“We really want to see Kassandra in there… And, yes, she's immortal at this point in time and she could very well show up in Japan, so we kind of connected the dots together. Without revealing what it is, we made up a story of when she went to Japan. What did she do there? She did more, ostensibly, than just put stuff in a cave,” Lemay-Comtois revealed.
“We have a justification for why there is a Kassandra statue bought by Kassandra in a cave… We might reveal it at some point later.
"We did our homework. We [didn't] just drop Kassandra there.

"And this is not the last Isu content there will be in Assassin's Creed Shadows.”
The Isu have shown up in basically every mainline Assassin’s Creed game since Assassin's Creed II, so their inclusion in some upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows DLC doesn’t necessarily mean that Kassandra will appear along with them.
In fact, Kassandra actually ends up living until 2018, so there’s a solid chance that she could pop up in basically any future Assassin’s Creed game down the line.
Still, I’d be surprised if the devs sprinkled this little teaser into Assassin's Creed Shadows, only to follow up on it in a completely different Assassin’s Creed title. I think the Isu’s teased reappearance and Kassandra’s return will happen in the same DLC, because it’s clear that the writers are building towards something big in Assassin's Creed Shadows’ upcoming content.
