The Assassin’s Creed franchise has taken players from the pyramids of 49BC Egypt to the height of the Renaissance period in 15th century Italy and everything in between. However, one fan-made trailer gives us a sneak peek at what the series could look like with a modern twist.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series has been the history teacher we never expected since it first appeared way back in 2007. Since then, the franchise has gone on to welcome 12 more major instalments taking us everywhere from Baghdad to Victorian London, the Caribbean, and more.

Check out the first ever Assassin's Creed trailer below!

However, one setting we haven’t seen is a more modern one - particularly with a Cyberpunk 2077-esque twist. Luckily for us, DatJusHappened Productions on YouTube has given us a taster of what it could look like in a video posted to their channel.

Described as a “sci-fi take” on Assassin’s Creed, we see an almost three-minute trailer of the futuristic vision which includes our assassin infiltrating the ‘Abstergo Facility of Molecular Cloning’ to assassinate their target.

Our assassin, adorned in a modern take on the famous robes, takes down guards with a holographic hidden blade and futuristic style guns as they make their way to the target. Once there, the two engage in a short fight before our assassin wins, taking down the enemy with a sudden appearance of the hidden blade.

Although it was just a short fan-made mock-up of a futuristic Assassin’s Creed title, it has already made some fans excited. “Okay, that holographic hidden blade is AWESOME!” commented one user. Another agrees that this could be the perfect end to the long-running series: “Assassin’s Creed in the future would be a good end series finale.”

It remains to be seen if Ubisoft has any plans for a Cyberpunk-inspired entry but until then, fans can hope!
