The release of Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe might be closer than we imagined, but hopefully, we’ve not just cursed its launch.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe was announced by Ubisoft in September 2022 with a simple tease of its logo, but no gameplay or in-engine footage was shown.

In 2024, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that it’s “going to be a very different game from Assassin's Creed Shadows. We're going to surprise people.”

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is expected to be the darkest entry of the long-running series, inspired by the witch trials in the 1600s, orchestrated by the Holy Roman Empire. Other than that, there’s little we know about the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game.

However, at least according to video game journalist and industry insider, Tom Henderson, Assassin’s Creed Hexe is still on the way, and it could be released sometime between 2026 to 2027.

Shared by Redditor Grandius, Assassin’s Creed Hexe was mentioned in a list of games along with other highly anticipated Ubisoft titles, such as the troubled Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, and the forgotten Splinter Cell remake.

Speaking of games lost in limbo, according to the aforementioned list, Ubisoft still reportedly intends to release Beyond Good & Evil 2, a game that was first teased 17 long years ago (and counting) in 2008.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if Ubisoft were to cancel some of the games mentioned above, but out of them all, it’s probably safe to assume that Assassin’s Creed Hexe is the safest of the lot, with fans remaining optimistic.

“I really am interested in Assassin’s Creed Hexe, especially with Ubisoft Montreal seemingly getting creative freedom,” said skylu1991.

“Assassin’s Creed Hexe feels like quite an intriguing avenue for the series, I’m super interested in that one,” replied Bobjoejj.

Once we have a confirmed release date for Assassin’s Creed Hexe, we’ll be sure to provide an update ASAP.

For now, at least, we can enjoy the most recent game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with its first expansion, Claws of Awaji, releasing on 16 September 2025.
