The Assassin's Creed series might have been through some ups and downs in recent years, but it's still one of the biggest and most attractive original franchises in all of video gaming.
The semi-recent release of Shadows did little to damage that reputation without really driving it forward in the way the Ubisoft would have expected, with plans for a second DLC shelved indefinitely.
That doesn't mean the developer isn't going to try and strike while the iron is warm though and it has several more Assassin's Creed projects on the go that we could see more of as we head into the wonders of 2026.
One of the upcoming releases that fans will certainly be desperate to hear more about is Assassin's Creed Hexe, which the development team has promised is going to be vastly different to anything we've seen in the franchise before.

Now, one fan thinks they've worked out exactly when we might get some additional details about the project, and it's a compelling enough reason to get excited for the next year.
Ubisoft's 40th Anniversary is the Perfect Time for More News

Over on Twitter/X, user Zephryss shared their theory that the 40th anniversary of the founding of Ubisoft, which is set to fall in March 2026, could be the perfect time for an Ubisoft Forward and more details about the game.
It's a compelling enough reason to think that Ubisoft would want to mark such an important occasion by dropping some pretty big announcements on fans, but whether that will include Hexe remains to be seen.
It's worth noting that Ubisoft has passed on holding Foward events during Summer Games Fest in recent years, so we're long overdue a showcase.
The developer has certainly kept pretty tight-lipped about their plans for the game thus far, but we do know some small tidbits about what it's going to look like when we do finally get our hands on it at some point in the future.
An unconfirmed rumour published by Bloomberg suggests that the game will have a heavy focus on witches and be set in the 16th century Holy Roman Empire, which will undoubtedly make for a much darker experience than we have had in the past.
Outside of that, it is not clear whether they're going to favour the RPG approach or the more traditional gameplay of the series, but whatever they decide to go for in that regard is likely to be divisive amongst a disagreeable fan base.
Hopefully the online speculation is right and we do hear more soon, or at the very least get confirmation of the Black Flag remake. We live in hope, anyway.
