If you’re a fan of semi-historically accurate action RPGs, then you’ll probably want to wishlist this upcoming game ASAP, just ahead of its October release date.
Assassin’s Creed and God of War have a few things in common, but the overarching similarity is that they’re history-inspired stories that let you murder droves of dudes throughout a bunch of different time periods and locations.
Oh, hey, speaking of, if that’s your kind of thing, you may want to check out Blood of Mehran, an action RPG set to drop on October 7th.
Developed by Permanent Way Entertainment and published by Blowfish Studios, this historically adjacent title is inspired by the One Thousand and One Nights folktales– or, as you might better know it as, The Arabian Nights.

If you’ve never read The Arabian Nights, I recommend you give it a go (although you should probably do some proper research on the best translation to read beforehand). Genuinely pretty fascinating collection of folktales (that also feature a bunch of penis-related jokes).
Anyway, if you’re less of a reader and more of a real gamer, then you’ll be happy to know that the folktales make for a pretty interesting basis for an adaptation. Honestly, there’s so much fun stuff in there that I’m kind of baffled that I’ve never heard of a video game adaptation of it before now.
Uh, never mind actually. I guess Sonic and the Secret Rings is technically an adaptation of The Arabian Nights, weirdly enough. Oh, and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception also takes some inspiration from the stories… which would have probably been a better example to have led with.
My point is that Blood of Mehran legitimately looks good, and I’m excited to see a developer tackle a proper adaptation of One Thousand and One Nights. Plus, Permanent Way Entertainment is based in Turkey and, from what I can tell, has several Middle Eastern members of staff in the dev team, so I’d wager that it will probably be a rather authentic adaptation.

If you’re interested in trying the game out for yourself, then you’ll be happy to hear that it’ll be available on most modern platforms at release, including Steam, both Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5.
Gotta say, my expectations are pretty high for this one. Here’s hoping that it hits the mark when it drops next month, because I already have a feeling that Permanent Way Entertainment has a bright future ahead of itself.
