Assassin’s Creed players have been pleasantly surprised with a new release coming later this year.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows might not have been for everyone but it was a damn fine game if you ask me, and now more people get to play it than ever.
Today Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, allowing you to play through Naoe and Yasuke’s story on a handheld rather than a TV or monitor.
The new port will have touchscreen capabilities allowing you to interact with the map, store and hideout, and it’ll even have cross-progression so you can continue your current playthrough.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Nintendo Switch 2 version is coming much sooner than you’d think as well, you’ll be able to play it on 4 December later this year.
Tough Break Elden Ring Fans
The game’s Nintendo Switch 2 port is going to be a bit of a kick in the teeth for Elden Ring fans.
Today it was also announced that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, the complete version of the game containing the base game and its Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion, is delayed to 2026.

The Tarnished Edition of the game would have brought it to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well, so if you were eager to play it on Nintendo’s handheld you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Why Play Assassin’s Creed Shadows Over Ghost Of Yotei?
One of the big reasons fans had such a negative reaction to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, aside from backlash against its choice in protagonists, was because many felt it was Ubisoft’s attempt to make its own Ghost of Tsushima.

Mechanically the games have nothing to do with each other and I think many forgot that Assassin’s Creed fans had been asking for a game set in Japan for years, but when they finally got one they roasted it instead of enjoying it.
Now that Ghost Of Yotei is out you’d be forgiven for wanting to play that game instead but don’t sleep on Assassin’s Creed Shadows too much.
Ghost Of Yotei boasts fast and fluid combat but Assassin’s Creed still beats it in terms of stealth-based gameplay, and going on a power-trip with Yasauke is still a lot of fun especially you weren’t a fan of the traditional Assassin’s Creed combat.
It all comes down to personal preference of course, but if you’re yet to play Assassin’s Creed Shadows and own a Nintendo Switch 2 perhaps this new version is the one for you.
