Despite controversy and delays leading up to its release, Ubisoft has proved everyone wrong with Assassin’s Creed Shadows hitting major milestones just days after its launch.

Praised for its attention to detail, return to the franchise’s roots, and its engaging main characters, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is being praised by fans and critics alike.

With the fourteenth major instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series performing so well, fans have already turned their attention to the future and luckily, we already have some idea of what Ubisoft has planned.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe is expected to be the next major Assassin’s Creed entry, taking players to the Holy Roman Empire during the witch trials. Expected to be the darkest entry in the series yet, fans are excited to get stuck in when it is released over the next few years.

However, according to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson and courtesy of Zephryss on Twitter, Ubisoft has one other stop before it focuses on Hexe.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Widely regarded as one of the best in the series, Black Flag was first released in 2013 and fans have been calling out for a remake or remaster ever since.

Now it seems as though one may be on the cards.

In a post by Zephryss, they wrote: “Assassin's Creed Codename Obsidian (the Black Flag remake) and Codename Invictus (AC Multiplayer) are set to launch before Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe.”

Of course, this is merely a rumour and has not yet been confirmed by Ubisoft. However, that has not stopped fans from feeling the hype.

“The only Ubisoft game I care about. Please, don't f**k it up,” said one user over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours.

Another added: “That's pretty soon, all things considered.

Hopefully it's a more interesting remake than 3.

It would be nice if it took some gameplay elements from Odyssey, which imo had better sailing and movement. Maybe even add a few more weapons options than swords and pistols.”

It remains to be seen if a Black Flag remake is in development but if true, we already know that it will be an instant hit for OG fans.
