Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake 'first glimpse' divides fans

Could this leak be real?

Despite there being 14 major instalments in the Assassin’s Creed series, there is one specific entry that players are calling out for a remaster for.

As you can probably already guess, it is Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Take a look at Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag in the trailer below!

First released back in 2013 and the sixth major instalment in the Ubisoft series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag took players to the Golden Age of Piracy and followed Welsh pirate Edward Kenway as he searched for fortune across the high seas.

Despite being well over a decade old, fans have been calling out for its remaster as Black Flag was praised for its epic naval combat, authentic West Indies locations, and Edward Kenway himself, of course.

Although Ubisoft has just launched Assassin’s Creed Shadows and has now turned its attention to Assassin’s Creed Invictus and Assassin’s Creed Hexe, a recent leak has revealed that it may also be working on a long-awaited Black Flag remake.

Shared on Twitter by TheHiddenOneAC, a screenshot can be seen showing an early development build of a “Havana scene”.

Considering that a large portion of Black Flag takes place in Havana, we can safely assume that this has been taken from a potential remake.

However, as with any unconfirmed leaks, this has not yet been confirmed.

That being said, the image has since been taken down from Twitter.

“Context: this was sent to me anonymously by somebody close at Ubi,” the original poster wrote.

“Don’t be surprised if it gets taken down.”

It is also worth noting that this image was shared on 1 April so there is another reason to take it with a pinch of salt.

However, users over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours had their own thoughts to share.

“I really, really hope this is real,” user SkellySkeletor wrote.

“Black Flag was such a special game to me, I want this remaster more than GTA VI.”

Another user said: “I'd be just fine and happy with a 4K/60 FPS patch. I don't want Ubisoft to screw anything up.”

It remains to be seen if this leak is true but for now, we have plenty of upcoming Assassin’s Creed entries to look forward to.
