When you take the plunge and spring for a new console, more often than not it comes with just one controller - great for single-player games, but what if you want to have friends round?

That's why it's always a good idea to have another controller or two handy, but they don't often come cheap. Luckily, right now Amazon has a deal on the Xbox Wireless Controller, bringing its price down from £59.99 down to £42.21. This is for the deep pink colour - the astral purple, carbon black, electric volt, pulse red, robot white, shock blue and Xbox green colours are also all discounted to varying degrees.

With a sculpted shape, this Bluetooth controller is designed for ultimate comfort - letting you play for hours without getting any hand cramps or soreness. It's got a dedicated share button in the middle of the controller, meaning you can easily take screenshots or make recordings while you're in the middle of play, and genius additions like the textured grip on the triggers and a hybrid D-pad mean it's as intuitive as you can get.

This nifty controller will pair with any of your Xbox devices - whether you have a Series X or Xbox One - while also being compatible with Windows devices. It uses AA batteries, which should give you up to 40 hours of juice - plenty of time to get stuck into your favourite game.

Over on Amazon, customers have given the controller 4.6 stars out of 5 from over 68,750 reviews. One gamer called it "a perfect blend of style and functionality", writing: "The build quality is top-notch, with a solid and comfortable feel that makes extended gaming sessions a breeze. The buttons and triggers are responsive and precise, providing excellent control and a satisfying tactile experience. The textured grips on the back are a fantastic addition, ensuring the controller stays securely in my hands during intense gameplay."

Another agreed: "Nice feel and grip, smoothly operational joysticks, lovely mechanisms of switches and buttons, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and not just for Xbox. Works out of the box with Android or PC." While a third added: "Fed up with black so decided to try this. Lovely bright pink colour. Unit works perfectly as it should. Highly recommended."

However, everyone is different, and one gamer noted: "The size of the controller isn’t the best for me, I can find both of my index fingers touching each other or crossing over if I hold them in the most comfortable position." Another complained: "Why oh why, do they not come with built in rechargeable batteries."

If you needed a new controller for your PS5 instead, you could look to Argos - where the DualSense Controller is currently reduced to £39.99. For a higher-spec experience, you could opt for the SCUF Instinct Pro Wireless Xbox Controller, which is currently reduced to £179 at Currys.

But for the classic Xbox controller in a range of colours, be sure to check out Amazon's deal before it ends.
