As PlayStation celebrates its 30th birthday, what better time to revisit one of the original console’s most beloved and iconic trilogies? You needn’t dig out your CRT television from the loft to do it either — Lara Croft’s first tomb raiding adventures have been fully remastered for a more modernised take on the classics.

Right now, you can pick up Tomb Raider I-III Remastered for just £26 from Game, featuring the original three games plus their respective expansions and secret levels, with cleaned up visuals and audio laid over the classic level design and gameplay.

For the purists out there, fret not. Much like the remastered Halo: Combat Evolved, you can switch between the refreshed and original visuals at any time, restoring Lara to all her polygonal glory at the touch of a button.

All the classic exploits remain intact, too, from the titular tomb raiding to luring your unsuspecting butler into the fridge at Croft Manor. The games also have added trophy support.

At Amazon, it’s picked up an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars from 40 reviews so far. “If you like Tomb Raider you’ll like this game,” said a five-star review. “Brilliant, 10 out of 10.”

“I've played all the Tomb Raiders across all the of PlayStations over the years, but to get the PS5 with the first three is a nostalgia overload!” said another happy tomb raider.

Another said: “Control scheme has been updated and works fantastic, you have the option for the original tank controls as well.”

Some reviewers seem to have missed the memo that these are PS1 games with a fresh coat of paint. “The game is so bad,” said one such customer. “It's so clunky. Graphics are not great. Lara doesn't move very well.”

Another added: “My biggest gripe is controlling Lara with a DualSense controller, it's a nightmare. And yes I've been in the games settings to try and resolve issues, but after an hour on all three games I'm giving up.”

For some alternative nostalgic fun, the Metal Gear Solid trilogy is just £49.99 on the PlayStation Store. The original Crash Bandicoot games have also been remastered for a new generation, with the Switch version available at Game for just £21.99.

At just £26, however, the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered collection is a bargain for both old-school gamers and newcomers alike.
