Tomb Raider fans, brace yourselves. One of Lara’s classic adventures is returning later this month.

It’s been a while since we last had a new Tomb Raider game, and it looks like we may still be waiting a while for the next one. But in the meantime, we at least have a load of older titles to go back and enjoy.

And if you’re in the mood for some classic Tomb Raider, one of Lara’s adventures is being made available on a new system in the next few weeks.

On 21st October, Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be added to the PlayStation store, with availability on PS4 and PS5 for the first time.

Before you get too excited, be sure to temper your expectations. It appears to be an emulated copy of the PS2 version of the game, rather than the more advanced PS3 version. This is likely due to the fact that Sony doesn’t have a PS3 emulator running well on PS4 and PS5.

It’s also possible that this could be added to PlayStation Plus Premium, as Tomb Raider: Legend did when it was added last year. This hasn’t been confirmed yet, though.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary is the 2007 remake of the first game in the series, and is the second title in the Legend trilogy. It featured a similar story and levels to the original, but modernised the gameplay to fit with the new structure introduced in 2006’s Tomb Raider: Legend.

The addition of both Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary has raised concerns that Crystal Dynamics is not working on a third collection that would see the Legend trilogy remastered and re-released for modern platforms.

In 2024 and 2025, the first six Tomb Raider games were remastered by Aspyr, but no confirmation of the Legend trilogy also getting this treatment has been confirmed.

Some fans believe that the existence of Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary on the PlayStation store as emulated titles is acting as a replacement for this. However, this may not necessarily be the case.

For example, Deus Ex: The Conspiracy was added in the same manner back in June, and then a remaster was announced at Sony State of Play last month.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be available for PS4 and PS5 on 21st October, 2025. Crystal Dynamics hasn’t confirmed yet if Tomb Raider: Underworld, the final game in the Legend trilogy, will be following it at a later date.
