The anticipation for GTA 6 and The Elder Scrolls 6 has been at fever pitch for a while now and it isn't showing any signs of slowing down any time soon, with both games still a while out from release.
Rockstar's crime riddled thriller is now scheduled to release on 19 November, 2026, whilst Bethesda's fantasy epic still doesn't have anything approaching a firm arrival date for fans to look forward to.
The double delay to GTA 6 has dampened a little of the excitement around the game, with rumours of a third delay now swirling, after it emerged that the game is not "feature complete," according to reports.
That serves as an example of why both companies have got the build up to their biggest games ever wrong, and why the pressure is now on for them to deliver more than ever.

Announcing Early is Damaging Games Before They Launch
Over on Reddit, one user shared a post asking why Rockstar took the decision to announce their game in 2023, several years before it was going to be ready for the public to play.
"Imagine how Rockstar employees must have reacted in 2023 when they suddenly found out that an extremely unfinished game now had a deadline of just two years to be delivered," the post reads.

Now, to be fair to the heads over at Rockstar, there had been several major leaks prior to that which they may have felt forced their hands somewhat, but there's no doubt it has led to negative sentiment overall given the delays.
The comments show that people aren't super happy with the state of things, with one saying: "They always do stuff like this.
"They release a trailer for a game with a release window and then delay it like 10 times.
"Of course I’m no game dev but if a company has a history of not releasing a game on the first release date, then personally I would stop releasing trailer for a unfinished games and instead I would wait till the game is fully finished and then start with the marketing but that’s just me."

The Elder Scrolls 6 has been considerably more egregious in that regard, with Bethesda announcing it all the way back in 2018, when the game was still in very early production.
That has led some players to question whether the game will feel dated before it's even done being developed.
I've personally decided to just try and remain positive, and assume that both games are going to deliver on every expectation I have for them.
I'm not delusional, I promise.
