Zack Snyder drops teaser for DC Darkseid project

Zack Snyder drops teaser for DC Darkseid project

Zack Snyder has dropped a teaser for an upcoming DC Darkseid project, with a full announcement due soon.

This is very curious indeed. Zack Snyder has released a teaser for a “full circle” Darkseid announcement which is somewhat odd when you consider all that’s been going on in the world of DC.

Earlier this year, James Gunn and Peter Safran outlined their plans for the rebooted DCU. ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters’ will, for the most part, wipe the slate clean - with Superman: Legacy kicking things off in 2025. The upcoming The Flash is said to lead into the new era of the DCU, while Joker and The Batman will now exist in the ‘Elseworlds’ timeline. Snyder played a major role in building DC’s original DCEU, but exited during production on Justice League. Seeing as the director hasn’t been active in the world of DC since 2017 then - with the exception of 2020’s re-released (of sorts) Zack Snyder’s Justice League - what could this announcement possibly be referring to?

Take a look at the trailer for The Flash below.

Snyder dropped the tease over on Twitter. The short video states, “Incoming transmission from Lord Darkseid,” providing a date window of 28 to 30 April. Snyder simply captioned the video with ‘#fullcircle’. Given that Gunn and Safran have already laid out their DCU plans, this is unlikely to be a teaser for a major DCU film. Unless, Snyder is creating a film that’ll fit in the ‘Elseworlds’ timeline like the aforementioned Joker and The Batman.

As I’m sure you’re aware, Darkseid was the primary antagonist in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Snyder never did get the opportunity to close out his version of the DCEU and the more I type, the more I’m convincing myself that maybe this will be an Elseworlds project.

Needless to say, fans are hyped whatever the announcement is. User JoshuaMiNelson wrote, “Look - don’t want to get my hopes up because they’ve been left to dry for so long, but the fact [that] speculation is back on the menu is [fire],” while KappapitoGOD added, “OMG, here we go again with the hype train.” The countdown begins.
