Sometimes it seems like a character is just made for an actor. That’s certainly the case if you ask fans of The Witcher 3.

Doug Cockle has recently been speaking about his iconic role as Geralt of Rivia to IGN. He spoke on his love for Geralt, The Witcher remake plus Project Polaris, the codename for the next mainline Witcher game.

Geralt has been the main character for The Witcher franchise for many years

In his conversation, Cockle commented on how long he would like to continue voicing Geralt saying, "It's just become such a part of me. I'm thrilled every time CD Projekt [Red] calls me up and says, 'Hey, Doug, are you available for such and such?' And my heart does a little flutter and leaps, and I go, 'Yes, of course I am,' because I love it so much."

It’s lovely to see the passion he has for his craft and how connected he seems to be to his role. It’s understandable given he’s become so close to CD Projekt Red over the years. While he comments that he doesn’t know the inner working of the developer, he does reveal that he has a very close working relationship with the team, “I have a lot of respect for CD Projekt Red. I don't work for them, I work with them. So I sit a little bit on the outside of the company itself. I'm like a satellite that kind of spins around the inner workings of the company, which I know nothing about, and every once in a while, they call me in and I come in and do a little thing.”

While the future of the Witcher franchise will apparently take players away Geralt as Polaris kicks off a new trilogy, Cockle could still appear again in some way. Perhaps Geralt will appear in flashbacks or in a cameo role. Either way, it seems like Cockle is in it for the long run, especially as we’ll next see Geralt in The Witcher remake. "I would love to just keep voicing Geralt until I can no longer voice anymore," he said.
