The Witcher 4 Unreal Engine 5 concept trailer is staggeringly gorgeous

This fan-made The Witcher 4 Unreal Engine 5 concept trailer is staggeringly gorgeous.

With Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty now officially released, CD Projekt RED is turning its attention to the next instalment in The Witcher series.

While we’re referring to the next instalment as The Witcher 4, that’s not its confirmed title. In fact, CDPR previously said that the game wouldn’t be a direct sequel to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Instead, It’ll kickstart a brand new trilogy although it’s assumed that in some way this will indeed link back to the previous trilogy. I’d imagine that we’ll get a brand new protagonist as it doesn’t look as if Geralt is set to lead the game. It’s all a lot of ‘maybes’ for now, with CDPR holding its cards very close to its chest. In the meantime, one fan has made a mock-up of what The Witcher 4 might look like in Unreal Engine 5 - and the results are incredible.

Take a look at Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in action below.

The video is the work of popular YouTube creator TeaserPlay. Describing the project, he said, “In this video, we are going to imagine The Witcher 4. The game is currently being developed by CD Projekt RED for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. We tried to use all the power and features of Unreal Engine 5 to recreate this, such as Lumen, Nanite, Ray Tracing and Metahuman.”

TeaserPlay’s video appears to use Geralt as a character in parts but as I said, we don’t know who will lead The Witcher 4. This is simply a fan-made project but it’s fun to sit and ponder ‘What if?’ - especially when we don’t know exactly how long it’ll be until CDPR offers a legitimate update. I’m imagining that devs will take their time with this one.

That’s what fans are hoping for. “I just want CDPR to take their time, even decades if they need to,” wrote a YouTube viewer. “If fan-made can look that good then I have high hopes for an official product,” added another.
