Where Winds Meet really has been a bit of a tonic since releasing back in November, showing Western audiences just how stunning the Wuxia genre can be when in the hands of the right developer.

Everstone Studios and NetEase Games' project puts players into the shoes of a young sword master as they work to uncover the mysteries of their own identity, and ancient 10th century china.

Whilst the premise is compelling enough, the game really stands out in the stunning visuals it gives the player, as well as the remarkably smooth movement and combat gameplay that go into the Wuxia genre.

Fortunately, it seems the developer is showing no signs of slowing down in its support for the game, and a new free update has just dropped that should expand the existing offering of the game significantly.

Over on Twitter/X, developer Everstone Studio posted an update on the game's official page detailing a new update that brings a whole host of content for players to enjoy.

The headline act is a new region, the Nine Mortal Ways Base, though what exactly the area looks or plays like is unclear at the time of writing.

There are also a ton of new story elements being added to the game, including the Kaifeng campaign and some additional legacy quests that drive forward the main narrative in a pretty major way.

Rounding out this process is a glut of new open world content, inclduing Jianghu Martial Games, Guild Battle Preseason, Hero's Realm, a new World Boss and other, as yet unnamed, additions to the gameplay.

Fans were predictably pleased with the news in the responses, with one saying, "Everyone has been waiting for nameless general. I’m happy to hear we have more story content and an area coming to the game next month!"

"Knowing that everything has been planned so well gives players confidence. Please don't drop the ball. Especially with the whole global vs CN stuff. Just keep doing what you are doing," another added.

"Thanks for keeping the momentum going. Really looking forward to finishing up Kaifeng," a third said.

The game is showing no signs of slowing down into 2026 and it really could be one of the better consistently supported offerings of next year, particularly if people remain as enthusiastic. As a reminder, the game is available on both PC and PS5.
