Ubisoft's Subscription Service Is Coming To Xbox

Ubisoft's Subscription Service Is Coming To Xbox

The service is set to arrive "in the future", but not as part of Xbox Game Pass.

So, got enough games in your backlog yet? Don’t be silly, there can never be too many, and apparently Ubisoft thinks so too, because they’ve just announced their plans to bring their subscription service, Ubisoft+, over to Xbox.

As of now, they’ve not actually announced when this is happening - the official line is that it “will be coming to Xbox in the future”, which isn’t entirely helpful, but hey, at least we know it’s on its way. Unfortunately, this isn’t going to be an expansion for existing Xbox Game Pass users - back in 2020, EA Play was added onto Game Pass Ultimate at no extra cost, but Ubisoft have confirmed their service will be available separately, so it’s just a case of having that bank of games available on console, instead of just PC and Stadia. Still cool, just not as cool.

Check out some gameplay footage below for Rainbow Six Extraction, releasing 20 January!

Ubisoft+ starts at £12.99 a month for PC access, or £14.99 a month for multi-platform (which is almost certainly the plan you’ll need when the service is brought over to Xbox). The service gives you free rein over 100 Ubisoft games, including day-one access to new releases, as well as DLC. Some highlights to tempt you from the current library include Far Cry 6, Assassins Creed Valhalla, and Watch Dogs: Legion

It’s also been announced that Rainbow Six Extraction will be coming to Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass day one, when it releases later this month on 20 January, so if you’re already a subscriber, that’s something that’ll be headed your way.

Xbox Game Pass is having a pretty great month in general, actually - Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the complete remastered trilogy of the series, just became available on there as of today, which I implore you to pick up if you haven’t already. Also available is the incredible space adventure, Outer Wilds, which is another great one to give a go.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I don’t know how people actually have the time for all these subscription service games, but hey. If you have the time management skills to cram in the entire Mass Effect trilogy alongside Rainbow Six Extraction this month, more power to you.
