Everybody makes mistakes from time to time. Sometimes they're small and barely noticeable. Other times, they're large and quite ridiculous.
I, for example, once hastily grabbed a screenshot of Titanfall and used it in a story about Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. I'm sure I could make some argument that the two games have a similar sci-fi war vibe, but the bottom line is I messed up. It happens! Fortunately, life goes on.
I say this because I want to stress there's absolutely no judgment on my part towards the poor social media manager at Ubisoft who accidentally used an image of the wrong assassin, in an Assassin's Creed post celebrating Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
As I'm sure you know, Altaïr is the hero of the original Assassin's Creed, and a character who's returned multiple times over the years. While not the most personable of assassins, he remains a firm favourite among fans.
While the originally tweet has, understandably, been removed, Reddit was quick to point out that Ubisoft India made a humorous blunder while wishing Altaïr a happy Birthday.
"On this day, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad was born. Happy Birthday, mentor!" the post read. Unfortunately, the accompanying image was not Altaïr, but Ezio Auditore da Firenze, star of Assassin's Creed II. Oops.
If we're being generous, it's easy to see where the mistake happened. While the assassin in the picture is Ezio, he's wearing Altaïr's armour. Between this and the fact he's sporting a hood that covers most of his face and head, you can understand how someone would confuse the two. If I'm being honest, it took me a few seconds to see what the problem was.
Ah well. We learn from our mistakes and move on, don't we? Podody's nerfect, after all.
