Tropic Thunder hailed as 'flawless' movie on its 15th anniversary by fans

Hard to believe it's been 15 years since Tropic Thunder, and fans still consider it to be the perfect comedy film.

Despite having its fair share of criticism, fans of the legendary comedy film, Tropic Thunder, are celebrating its 15th anniversary, sharing their favourite moments and paying tribute to its best performances.

If you haven’t seen it, and you should, Tropic Thunder is a satirical comedy about a group of actors shooting a war film in a real jungle. Whilst there, they accidentally stumble into a real warzone, leading to a variety of hilarious developments.

Starring phenomenal talents like Ben Stiller, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr and more, it received very positive reviews from the majority who watched it.

While it’s still remembered for its plot, characters and performances, it’s also remembered for its controversy. Robert Downey Jr had to don blackface for his character, and while he was praised for his performance, it caused a lot of offence for some people, many of which still criticise the film to this day.

Now, on its 15th anniversary, fans came together on social media to talk about the film, and how it’s still one of the greatest comedies ever written.

One said: “This was one of my favourite cinema experiences ever. I left the cinema with sore ribs from laughing. Still to this day, the only movie I like Tom Cruise in. His negotiation phonecall with the terrorists still tickles me.”

Another added: “One of the best (if not the best) comedies ever made.”

Finally, another mocked the film’s haters, many of which claim Tropic Thunder wouldn’t have been so popular if it released for a modern audience, saying: “you could never make this today Coz they made it fifteen years ago, if you pitched this, they would just say ‘sir this is just tropic thunder.’”

Love it or hate it, you have to admit Tropic Thunder had the laughs, the action and the talent to memorialise it as one of the greatest comedy films ever conceived.
