Political tensions across the United States continue to rise following the recent assassintion of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk.
As a result of his right-wing political ideologies and myriad of controversial views, Kirk’s death has led to a mixed response from people all over the world.
However, his death at Utah Valley University on 10 September has now been the indirect result of one hit American television show host losing their job.
In the most recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, its titular host spoke out about both Kirk and Donald Trump’s less than sympathetic reaction to his death.

“The MAGA gang desperately trying to characterise this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel began.
About Trump, he added: “This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he calls a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”
Following his comments, the Trump Administration and conservative viewers called for the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live and it was not long before Disney-owned ABC did just that.
Despite being the land of free speech, it seems as though that was not the case for Kimmel and, as a result, Hollywood stars have been speaking out against the unlawful suspension.

As well as MCU star Tatiana Maslany calling for a boycott against Disney, it seems as though The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal is also doing the same.
In an Instragram post, Pascal shared an image of himself and Kimmel together with the caption: ”Standing with you @jimmykimmellive. Defend #FreeSpeech Defend #DEMOCRACY.”
This is not the first time that The Last of Us star, who played Joel Miller in the hit HBO television adaptation, has used his platform to speak about injustice.
On top of the post shared to his feed, Pascal has also used his Instagram story to speak out.

He shared multiple images from SAG-AFTRA who also "condemns the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
On top of that, he also reposted an image by Instagram account @humanrightscampaign with the headline, “This is what fascism looks like.”
It seems as though Pascal is not scared to use his first amendment despite it seemingly being an area of contention in the U.S right now.
As a result, one fan commented on the post saying, “Thank you for consistently using your voice and platform to support the right side of history. Appreciate your light in the dark, Babygirl. “
