Stranger Things fans think they’ve figured out exactly who is going to die in the final season, and they’re basing it on an official source.
Season 5 of Stranger Things is set to drop on Netflix at the end of the year, and fans are already theorising about who will bite the dust in the final season.
In fact, one user over on the r/StrangerThings subreddit has even made a tier list of who they think is most likely to die, and they’ve put both Will and Steve at its top (well, just below Vecna, but… I think he’s a given).
The thing is, the people in the comments seem to disagree.

They either think completely different characters are going to die, or, they think nobody is going to die at all, because the Duffer Brothers straight up said so.
“Idk, I think the Byers family being reunited was such an important emotional touchpoint for the end of season 1, I can’t imagine them not recreating that,” commented user Just-Explanation-498.
“I think in the hands of another writing/story team, one of them would absolutely be a goner, but I just don’t think it’s in line with their storytelling approach.”
“My theory is that Hopper and Robin are the ones to go. Steve has a good chance, too,” replied user vangoghtaco.

“Max was as good as dead at the end of season 4, with the original plan to kill her off, so she's also a good candidate to go. Eleven I could also see them possibly killing off. Guess we'll wait and see!”
Personally, I wouldn’t put too much stock in what the Duffer Brothers said.
Writers lie all the time. I mean, it would be much more of a shock if they said everyone is safe, only for someone to actually die at the end.
Still, if you wanna know who my money is on, I’d wager that there will be a fakeout featuring Eleven… and then they’ll probably show her having lived on an after credits scene or something.
