Stranger Things fans just realising two main characters have never actually spoken

At least they have one more season left to fix this...

Turns out, two of Stranger Things’ most important characters have never actually spoken to each other, which is baffling fans considering they’re arguably the fanbase’s favourites.

Now that Stranger Things is set to return to our screens for the final time at the end of this year, fans are hoping that several loose ends will finally be tied up.

However, one of the biggest resolutions fans want doesn’t have anything to do with the plot. They just want two men to have a conversation.

As user patriotraitor notes over on the r/StrangerThings subreddit, Steve and Hopper have, technically, never actually spoken with one another.

Well, the user in question thinks that they’ve not actually met, which isn’t technically true. Steve and Hopper have been in a room together several times, in both Season 2 and Season 3, but they never spoke during either of these scenes.

Why? I have a good theory for that.

Well, it’s not a “theory” in the juicy, plot-specific sense. I think the Netflix showrunners have just split the two characters up too much.

In Season 2, Steve kind of had his own mini-adventure working in the mall, while Hopper was darting around, trying to keep Eleven hidden.

And then, in the last season, Hopper was imprisoned in Russia, whereas Steve was… y’know, in a different country.

The two of them barely meeting and not really having an opportunity to talk is a byproduct of the shooting schedule of Stranger Things, as a lot of the actors are too in demand these days. It’s hard to have everyone’s schedules line up.

But hey, there’s a final season left. Maybe Steve and Hopper can have a conversation about, uhh… wow, do these two actually have a single thing in common? Y’know, besides battling with supernatural horrors a few times a year.
