Star Wars fans divided over real reason Yoda talks the way he does

Yoda talk this way, why does, hmm?

Yoda is arguably the most popular character in the Star Wars universe with many lovable qualities, such as the charming way he talks.

To say that Yoda is arguably the most popular character in the franchise is saying something, considering he shares that Star Wars spotlight with the likes of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewie, Darth Vader and many more.

Perhaps only the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas knows for a 100% fact why Jedi Master Yoda talks the way he does as such, fans of the galaxy far, far away have speculated for years.

“Why does Yoda talk like that?” asked Redditor Right_Two_5737. “When Yoda was young, almost a thousand years before the films, he talked like a regular person. But languages change over time, so as the centuries passed, everyone else started talking differently.”

“I think his native language used an object-subject-verb and since everyone understands him, he never bothered to structure his sentences in the way basic speakers do. It's a habit now,” suggested lyathenox.

“This makes a whole lot of sense. A language could certainly change that much in 800+ years,” replied typically-me. “I guess we’ll have a way of confirming your theory if Grogu ever decides to speak.”

“That is an interesting idea, but as the language changed, why didn’t Yoda change with it? People who speak languages that evolve (i.e., all of us) naturally change how they speak without realising it,” explained susitucker. “They evolve with the language.”

“I don't envy the current Star Wars writers and producers right now regarding Grogu getting older,” exclaimed boppeto. “The decision to make him speak like Yoda or speak normally will be a source of controversy no matter what they go with.”

The entire Star Wars saga is available to stream right now on Disney Plus.
