Loyalists of the Star Wars series, The Acolyte, are delighted with the series’ unexpected return.

Despite what you might think of the now-cancelled Disney Plus series, The Acolyte, not many big-budget series have flopped quite as hard as this one.

The Disney Plus series cost a reported eye-watering $670k per minute, and that’s a lot of money for its one season that had a total of eight episodes that ran from anything between 30 to 40 minutes.

I’m a big, lifelong Star Wars fan, but combined with its at times nonsensical writing, quite possibly the dumbest Jedi in existence, led by an unlikeable lead character(s), I wasn't brokenhearted when The Acolyte faced the chopping block.

There are some things I liked about the series, such as the introduction of Darth Plagueis in its final episode, which had me slightly intrigued to see where it might lead in season two. And the somewhat interesting character initially referred to as “The Stranger”, but that was about it for me.

Still, there are a lot of fans who like The Acolyte and would love to see it renewed for a second season. That being said, if you’re keen for more of The Acolyte, then you might want to check out this new release.

Out now, Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown is written by Tessa Gratton and published by Random House, is going down a treat with some fans on Reddit.

“I've only read the first chapter, but I had a big emotional reaction when reading about Jecki,” said OkEbb9701, with Yarnstead adding, “Yes, I really love her in this book!”

“I’m enjoying it so far! My Kobo ebook was delivered last night,” replied Yarnstead, once more.

Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown is out now in physical and digital form. You can also watch the only season of The Acolyte on Disney Plus.
