Star Wars fans are mourning the fact that a leading character in The Acolyte could have fixed a major issue that plagues the franchise's Sith, but it wasn't meant to be.
Say what you will about The Acolyte, despite having some of the dumbest Jedi in the galaxy and some laughable scenes, it at least had a glimmer of potential, in my humble opinion.
I am about to go into spoilers for the conclusion of season one, so consider this to be your spoiler warning.

In the series, Darth Plagueis was revealed to be pulling the strings of manipulation when it came to one of the show's leading characters, Verosha "Osha" Aniseya.
There have been several female Sith in Star Wars over the years, such as Darth Acina, Darth Traya and Darth Shaa, to name a few, but many are considered non-canon - and certainly none have ever been portrayed in live-action; that’s a story still waiting to be told.
In the final episode of The Acolyte, season one, it left us to assume that Osha was already progressing with her training as a Sith apprentice with Sith Lord Qimir.
The belief is that eventually, Osha would have become a full-fledged Sith, thus becoming the first female Sith ever to be portrayed in live-action.

Unfortunately, The Acolyte was cancelled after its first season, meaning that we’ll never see that happen. On Reddit, fans have been discussing what could have been.
“The Acolyte was going to focus on a female Sith. I was super upset this show was cancelled,” said Shirinjima, responding to one fan pointing out the all-male Sith line-up.
“Season two of The Acolyte would have had that (one of the twin girls), but people didn't like season one, so it got cancelled,” replied AceKent.
“I was hoping The Acolyte was that. But oh, the disappointment!” exclaimed Accomplished-Try9995.

I suppose it’s not entirely outside the realm of possibility that The Acolyte might make a triumphant comeback on Disney Plus, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
