Star Wars may have just retconned the sequel trilogy, but fans aren't so sure

This just doesn't add up

The Star Wars sequel trilogy is one steeped in mixed opinions, with some fans thinking that parts of it were perfect, and others believing the whole thing was a waste of time.

It doesn’t help that the disastrous third part of the trilogy undid so much faith that many had put into the films, leaving them with a bad taste in their mouths as Star Wars became a messy franchise.

There have been glimmers of hope since then, at first with The Mandalorian, then more recently, Andor.

It’s the latter of those two, which just wrapped up the second and last season of the show, where fans think a small detail is retconning a large part of the sequel trilogy.

If you haven’t seen the second season of Andor, you will want to navigate away from here, and we’ll see you again in another galaxy, far, far away.

Still here? Well, some fans believe the baby of Cassian Andor and Bix is actually Poe Dameron, the ace pilot and key rebel from the latest trilogy, played by Oscar Isaac.

It’s a bit of a stretch, to be honest, and while it may make for a nice fact in the minds of some, others think it’s nonsense.

“Why the bloody hell does everything always have to be connected?” said one fan over on Twitter.

You may be aware that Dameron’s parents have already been shown in comics, though comics’ lore has previously been thrown out.

Still, fans think this is a silly connection, with another saying, “Considering they’d have to de-canonize the entire Star Wars 2020 comics just to make it work, and all for a fan theory for a character that we’d probably never be seeing again, I doubt it happens.”

“For the love of the maker, please stop this,” exclaims another Star Wars fan.

Yeah, we’re not convinced either.
