Star Wars officially announces new series set after Return Of The Jedi

New adventures, old faces

Star Wars has officially announced a new adventure which will follow on from Return of the Jedi, featuring the classic trio of Luke, Leia, and Han.

Taking place within the New Republic, writer Tom Segura, and artist Phil Noto, will be carrying the legacy of the three iconic Star Wars characters as they live life after the Battle of Endor.

The new Star Wars series will be set after the events of Return of the Jedi

Very little is known about the upcoming storyline aside from the time period in which it takes place.

Official word states only that the heroes will find themselves facing off against thieves and pirates who are swarming the galaxy in the void left over by the empire.

Speaking on the project, Segura said, “It’s a huge honor — and massive responsibility — to steer the Star Wars flagship, and I couldn’t ask for a better collaborator than Phil Noto, who is just a masterful artist, and a Star Wars visionary.”

The new series, simply titled Star Wars #1, starts in May 2025 from Marvel Comics and follows on from the recent events tied to the Battle of Jakku, also written by Segura.

In the same interview, Segura went on to say, “Now that we've put the period at the end of the Galactic Civil War with the Battle of Jakku, we can speed ahead into a new, uncharted era, with some new galactic threats, foes, and mysteries.”

This fills out more of the overall Star Wars lore, as Disney and Marvel seem to pivot into more of the Skywalker saga.

Meanwhile, on screen, it seems like we’ll be going away from this with the rumours of Shawn Levy’s film leaving the plot line behind.

So, for fans of the original trio, there’s going to be a lot coming down the pipe in the comics, opening up a wealth of new stories with cameos from other classic characters.
