Mace Windu is yet to return to the silver screen, but you can officially now fill in a gap in this character’s timeline courtesy of a new comic book.
I have to say, Lucasfilm and Marvel Comics have been cooking this year.
From Legacy of Vader to the long-awaited adaptation of The Rise of Skywalker, there are plenty of incredible runs you can dive into; and yes, I do believe TheRise of Skywalker comic run is an improvement on the film.
Today though, it’s an upcoming issue of the wonderful Star Wars: Jedi Knights that I want to draw your attention to.

Issue #6 is set to land on 13 August, both digitally and in comic book stores, and it features fan-favourite Mace Windu.
Written by Marc Guggenheim and with art by Madibek Musabekov, the issue takes place prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
“A JEDI MASTER DEFEATED! Jedi Master FONDAR ETZIS is dead,” the synopsis begins.
“Jedi Knights QUI-GON JINN, MACE WINDU and AAYLA SECURA are dispatched to retrieve the body... ...but who killed Etzis...and which Jedi Knight is the next to fall?”

That’s right - Qui-Gon Jinn is back too. That’s two fan-favourites; no offence to Aayla Secura. I’m sure somewhere out there she has a loyal legion of followers.
Jedi Knights, as you might’ve guessed, is an ongoing series so this doesn’t quite mark the end of this tale.
In fact, Issue #6 kicks off the run’s second volume.
The first five issues plus the Free Comic Book Day release The Moon of Death make up Vol. 1 Guardians of the Republic.

It’s not yet known when Vol. 2 will land but it’ll assumedly include the already announced Issues #6 to #10.
Other issues have included the likes of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi, so this really is one for prequel era fans to check out.
I’m not against revisiting classic characters, but I think places like this - the realm of comic books - are where it should be done.
Andor and Skeleton Crew prove just how much magic there is still within Star Wars live-action output, but only when it chooses to focus on new storytelling.

For me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, for example, felt a little dry but here? The prequel characters shine, and these bite-sized stories are the perfect antidote for those with a nostalgic craving.
Catch up on the stellar series ahead of Issue #6’s release next month.
