Star Wars fans feel Yoda’s origins never needed to be explored, and by introducing new characters of the same species, it kind of ruins his mystique.
Over the years, the Star Wars franchise has introduced several mysteries, some made for us to solve and others made to just sort of exist and give the galaxy a bit of spice or flair; Yoda is one of those latter mysteries.
He first appeared in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, as Luke’s new master.
George Lucas was once featured in a joint interview with Hayden Christensen, where the pair asked each other questions about Star Wars.

When asked about Yoda’s origins, George Lucas admitted that he himself doesn’t really know, as he never gave him a species name or a home planet; he simply needed another teacher for Luke following the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
This stayed pretty much the same until the prequels when another “Yoda” named Yaddle appeared on the Jedi Council, and more recently Grogu in The Mandalorian.
Over the years, fans have claimed that Yoda’s mysterious origins have been somewhat ruined by characters like Yaddle, and have said as much in various Reddit threads on the topic.
“Agree. Keep his species and planet a mystery,” said one fan, while another added, “I think they screwed up by creating Yaddle. It ruined the whole aura around him … It was just weird to have them both sitting in the same room like they weren't the only two of their kind in the whole damn system.”

Fortunately, Yaddle didn’t really last that long, and with Yoda long gone too, there’s only Grogu alive and kicking to carry on the species.
That could change, of course, if they decided to introduce more of Yoda’s kind, but surely that’d just make things worse rather than better?
