Minecraft live-action movie first trailer is pure nightmare fuel

Welp, that's a creative choice right there!

The first trailer for the live-action Minecraft has finally made an appearance, but oh my goodness, it wasn't what any of us were expecting.

In fact, it's fair to say this is nightmare fuel.

Hopes weren't high about this latest video game adaptation; not only did Jack Black seem an odd choice to play Minecraft's Steve, but the first glimpse we got of Black in character wasn't great.

Some went so far as to remark on it looking like a 'Walmart Halloween costume".

Turns out, things have gone from bad to worse now that the first teaser trailer is here.

Take a look at the Minecraft film trailer for yourselves

Assuming you managed to make it through that trailer in one piece, it's time to buckle up again because the comments section on Twitter is rough right now.

"Oh this is gonna be so bad," posted user Grahamalot, which is a rather mild take compared to some of the other posts that just scream about how "awful" it looks.

User Lukey SZN commented, "I didn’t expect a lot from a live-action Minecraft movie but this ain’t it," alongside a gif of a Minecraft character crying in the rain.

Further choruses of "oh my God WHYYYYY this looks horrible" join in if you dare to scroll further down and read every single tweet thus far.

The trailer has only just dropped and it's getting hit with an enormous amount of backlash - imagine how bad it's going to be when the film is in cinemas.

Fortunately, we have several months yet to prepare for such horrors; Minecraft will release in theatres from 4 April 2025.

Although it isn't launching on April Fool's Day, its trailer feels like an April Fool's joke that's gone further than it ever should have.

Oh, poor Steve. We knew he'd been done dirty, but this trailer compounds matters.
