Harry Potter and The White Lotus actor Jason Isaacs is joining Amazon’s Tomb Raider television series, according to a new report.

Amazon’s Tomb Raider series has been in development since 2024, but casting has only recently gone underway.

Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner will portray Lara Croft, but other cast members have not been confirmed by Amazon MGM yet.

As reported by Deadline, sources have told the publication that Isaacs is the latest cast member in line for a role in the Amazon TV series. However, it is not yet known who he is playing.

In addition to Isaacs, it’s also been recently reported that Sigourney Weaver will be playing a role in the TV series, with her role also remaining under wraps.

As Amazon has not commented on these reports yet, make sure to take all of this with a pinch of salt.

Based on the Tomb Raider video games, the series follows globetrotting adventurer and archaeologist Lara Croft as she uncovers ancient artifacts and infiltrates dangerous tombs and ruins. The exact plot of Amazon's series has not been revealed yet, and we don't know if it'll be an original story or an adaptation of the games.

Who Could Jason Isaacs Be Playing In Tomb Raider?

If Isaacs’ role is confirmed to be a character from the video games, there are two possible characters he’d be a good fit for.

The first one is Richard Croft, Lara’s neglectful father, another world-famous archaeologist dedicated to his work. The character is referenced in many Tomb Raider games, but has a much larger presence in the Survivor Trilogy.

While Isaacs might be a good fit to play Richard, it’s possible that Amazon may not want to explore Lara’s relationship with her father in the series given how that subject was already recently explored in the Survivor Trilogy of the games.

The other character he could be playing is Werner Von Croy, another archaeologist in the original timeline of the Tomb Raider games.

Von Croy debuts in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation as Lara’s mentor at a young age, before becoming an antagonist later on in the game.

Isaacs has played villains in the past, including Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films and Captain Hook in Peter Pan. Considering this experience, he may be the perfect actor to play Von Croy.

However, until then, Isaacs' role remains to be confirmed by Amazon.
