A new report has suggested that Marvel’s new X-Men film has just selected its new leads, and we can’t wait to see more.
Ever since the Disney buyout of 21st Century Fox, there has been much speculation surrounding how Fox’s Marvel characters would be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Legacy X-Men characters like Beast, Professor X, Cyclops, Magneto, and Mystique are set to return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, with the same actors from the Fox series reprising their roles once again.
However, a brand new reboot helmed by Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is also underway, which will introduce a new X-Men team to the MCU with a brand new cast.

Assuming the film is still supposedly set for release in 2028, it may still be a little early for casting details. However, a new report has suggested which characters may lead the X-Men in this new reboot.

Who will lead the MCU's X-Men?
In a recent Q&A, Marvel insider Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus spoke about the X-Men reboot, saying that he’d allegedly heard that “Cyclops and Jean Grey as co-leaders of the team".
Perez also heard that Angel, Beast, Gambit, Rogue, and Nightcrawler would be involved in some capacity.
It’s odd that there has been no mention of major X-Men characters like Professor X, Wolverine, or Mystique. It’s possible that they’ll still be featured, of course, but aren’t as critical to the plot as the others are.
In addition to this, Perez also hints at some things that will be occurring for the X-Men that will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. While it’s important to take rumours with a grain of salt, we’ll throw down a spoiler warning here in case he’s right.
“When we see Magneto again in Doomsday, he finally has the mutant utopia he had always dreamed of. When it’s threatened, you know he’ll throw hands to protect it,” Perez writes regarding Magneto.
He also writes that he doesn’t think the X-Men or Avengers will kill each other in the film, even if they’re being pitted against each other: “I don’t think any X-Men or Avengers will kill each other this time around, at least not intentionally.
"Maybe the consequences of their actions cause the deaths, but not something directly.”
The new MCU X-Men film will supposedly be arriving post-Avengers: Secret Wars.
With that film currently slated for December 2027, we're looking at a possible 2028 release date for the reboot.
