Spider-Man 4 may have found its Miles Morales

The next Spider-Man film’s cast is steadily growing after reports claim an actor to play Miles Morales has been found.

Naturally with such a big film, Spider-Man fans are throwing in their two cents about creative direction and casting choices.

Discourse in the fandom started when a returning character left fans divided; it’s a divide that’s widened as debates regarding who should play the next Spidey have also broken out online.

Could the Miles we know from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 be a better fit for the cinematic role?

It seems the major debates won't cease soon now that the next Miles Morales may have been found.

Twitter account @SoulessCinema shared the news that Stranger Things actor Caleb McLaughlin is in talks regarding the role, as per a Deadline report.

“He would be a GREAT Miles ngl,” posted @mamacoms_.

Someone else remarked how “wild” it was that McLaughlin might play the role, as they “was thinking” how well suited to the part he’d be; he “has the energy for it”.

While McLaughlin seems a solid choice, not everyone is convinced he’s the right fit.

“I love him but we need an Afro-Latino,” argued @godxwoman; it’s a comment that currently has 44 likes.

Another fan delved deeper into the discourse saying, “None of the three actors I've heard mentioned for a potential role at Miles Morales deserve it. WE NEED AN AFRO-PUERTO RICAN ACTOR, OR ONE THAT IS HALF BLACK HALF PUERTO RICAN.”

For some, the role doesn’t need casting as there’s already the perfect Miles Morales – Nadji Jeter, the actor who plays Miles in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

“Honestly I hope it’s not to be Miles,” said @JenniferSays291 when referring to the casting rumours, “I think Nadji Jeter should be Miles since he voiced him in the games.”

At the time of writing this, McLaughlin was only in talks – he still might not accept the role.

With such a well-known character, it’s likely that some part of the Marvel fandom is always going to be unhappy with the final casting choice.
