MCU Star Facing Major Backlash Over Charlie Kirk Post

Many celebrities are receiving backlash

Following the shooting of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk earlier this week, one Marvel Star is facing backlash for posting about the death on social media.

Known for his right-wing ideologies, outspoken views and support for gun rights, Kirk has recently been touring America on his ‘American Comeback Tour’ with one stop taking him to Utah Valley University on 10 September.

However, whilst answering a question on gun violence from an audience member, Kirk was shot and killed at the scene in front of a 3,000-strong crowd.

The killer is still yet to be caught and a manhunt is underway across America but in the meantime, fans of the right-winger have not been quiet about the shooting and one such fan is Marvel’s Chris Pratt.

Best known for playing Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, Pratt took to social media following the shooting to say:

"Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us."

This is not the first time that Pratt has received backlash for his right-wing views with the actor previously revealing ties to the far-right church as well as skipping out on an October 2020 fundraiser for Joe Biden which saw his co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Mark Ruffalo attend.

Pratt joined the likes of other political figures such as Donald Trump, Elon Musk and JD Vance to share his sympathies for Kirk but it seems as though Pratt’s comments have not gone down well with Marvel fans.

"Praying for you to get f**king fired from Marvel,” one user posted in response.

Another agreed, adding, "Oh now you wanna say something like there hasn’t been anything worse happening in the world right now."

At the time of Kirk’s shooting, another school shooting was also taking place in Colorado which resulted in two victims being taken to hospital in critical condition.

Not only that but Kirk has previously advocated for America’s second amendment, believing that gun deaths were an “unfortunate” result of Americans having the right to bear arms.

"Where was Chris Pratt when Charlie Kirk was saying this?” Another angry user asked.

“Charlie was even talking about mass school shooting where children died btw.... Where was Chris's 'God Help Us' then???"

It remains to be seen if Marvel Studios will take any action against Pratt’s comments.
