Robert Downey Jr. himself just shared a very telling picture from the set of the next huge Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, that seems to be implying that the film will be adapting one very specific Doom-centric story…
Thank you in advance to ComicBook’s Chris Agar for their original write up on the story!
RDJ posted another cute little teaser on Instagram yesterday that details his “Doom workstation essentials” on the set of Avengers: Doomsday, and fans have immediately zeroed in on his choice to feature the Doom Marvel Comics one-shot.

The one-shot features Doom amassing power so he can take down one of the only true beings that he considers a genuine threat: Galactus.
Now, there’s a few reasons why this is such a big deal. Firstly, and most obviously, Galactus is going to feature as the main antagonist in the MCU film Fantastic Four: First Steps.
If Galactus manages to survive the events of the film or, worse, actually manage to defeat the Fantastic Four, it could imply that Doom’s choice to take over Iron Man’s body in Avengers: Doomsday is a result of his desire to stop the galactic-sized threat.
Take a look at the trailer for that film below.
However, there is another pretty interesting detail in the Doom one-shot that could feature in Avengers: Doomsday… Valeria Richards.

In case you aren’t aware of her, Valeria is the daughter of the Fantastic Four’s Sue and Reed. She also happens to be Doom’s goddaughter, and even affectionately refers to him as “Uncle Doom”.
Considering we already know that Sue is pregnant in Fantastic Four: First Steps, this could be implying that Valeria might feature in Avengers: Doomsday (especially considering she plays a vital role in assisting Doom during the events of the comic).
It’s all just guesswork at this point, but I do think it’s a very specific choice of comic book for RDJ to feature in his post, considering the thousands of other stories that Doom has featured in at this point.
