Marvel Studios has officially announced the MCU’s new Iron Fist, and they’ll be appearing in the next Disney Plus TV show.

This isn’t a live-action adaptation, so the chances of Finn Jones popping up to play Danny Rand once again, are still there, especially if Daredevil: Born Again starts to bring the Defenders together.

However, the character of Iron Fist will be turning up in Eyes of Wakanda, a Black Panther spin-off due to air on 1 August.

To make it even clearer that this isn’t a replacement for the Danny Rand from the Netflix era, this Disney Plus Iron Fist will actually be female.

Iron Fist will be voiced by Jona Xiao, who announced the news on their Instagram page, saying they are “so stoked” to be playing the “MCU’s 1st ever female Iron Fist”.

Eyes of Wakanda has been brought forward in the Disney Plus schedule and will debut several weeks earlier than first thought.

In the show, we’ll get to see more of Wakanda and the people surrounding Black Panther, and now we know we’ll get to see the MCU’s new Iron Fist, also.

Over the years, Marvel Comics has introduced a few different female Iron Fist characters, but it seems that Xiao could be playing Colleen Wing, however, some fans have pointed out that this show takes place before the MCU continuity.

This means it takes place before Danny Rand, and also Colleen Wing.

So, Xiao could instead be playing Wu Ao-Shi, who lived in the 16th-century, and as the show is an anthology, one episode could indeed be set in 16th-century China.

We’ll likely have to wait and see how or when Iron Fist will appear, unless Marvel discusses it before the premiere next month.

For now, we can celebrate another version of Iron Fist arriving in the MCU.
