First bursting onto our screens in 2016 and portrayed by the late, great Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther has become an iconic member of the MCU family but now we have finally received our first look at a brand-new iteration thanks to a gorgeous teaser.

Appearing as Black Panther/T’Challa for the first time in Captain America: Civil War, Boseman went on to portray the iconic superhero four more times across the Marvel Cinematic Universe before his untimely death in 2020.

With many unsure what would happen to the character following his death with fans torn between wanting a recast and not wanting another to take Boseman’s place, it was later decided that Letitia Wright’s Shuri would take up the mantle in the future of the MCU.

Until then, however, Disney and Marvel Studios have come together to work on a brand-new animated series called Eyes of Wakanda.

Set to air on 1 August, the first poster has finally been unveiled and has given us our first glimpse at a brand-new Black Panther.

The four-episode animated anthology series will be set throughout Wakandan history and will follow the country’s heroes as far back as 1260 B.C. as they fight to retrieve vibranium artefacts from around the world.

As this will be set many years before the events of Black Panther, we can expect a new actor to take on the role and one which does not include T’Challa, Shuri or any hero we have seen before.

This will be the first time that we have seen Wakanda for quite a few years and will bridge the gap until Wright takes up the mantle of Black Panther alongside Winston Duke's M'Baku in Avengers: Doomsday when it is released next December.

As for Black Panther 3, it is not expected to arrive until at least 2028 and will mark the first Black Panther entry in Phase 7 of the MCU.

Until then, it is unclear who will be portraying the Black Panther in next week’s Eyes of Wakanda but with such an epic promotional image, we can expect some big things.
