MCU's new Avengers leader explains why they're ready to take charge in Doomsday

I don't think everyone is coming out of this MCU film alive...

The actor playing the new leader of the MCU’s Avengers has explained how their story will tie into the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday.

Thank you in advance to Comic Book Movie’s Josh Wilding for the original source!

Comic Book Movie was lucky enough to snag an interview with Anthony Mackie last week, during a press conference promoting the next Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World.

Mackie was asked how the events of Captain America: Brave New World will influence Sam Wilson’s role in Avengers: Doomsday, and he revealed that he believes the film is setting up the “next crescendo, massive moment” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"Well, this movie establishes Sam as his own being, his own entity or incarnation of Captain America,” Mackie revealed.

Captain America: Brave New World is the next MCU film to drop.

“And the fact that he's never taken the serum, the fact that he's every man's Captain America, I think that'll have an effect and will pay off greatly in the future of the franchise, because he can give the perspective of the regular guy, as opposed to the super guy.”

“I feel like this movie, Brave New World, just like Captain America: The First Avenger, is that foundation, that building block to build to that next crescendo, massive moment in the MCU universe,” continued Mackie.

“And I just, I’m proud that we’re here at the beginning. Like, I’m proud to say that we’re that footprint that is at the beginning of that walk."

It’s all a bit vague, but that’s to be expected. Disney is staying tight-lipped about the events of Avengers: Doomsday for the time being, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given that it’s not set to release until 2026.

Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how a powerless hero like Sam Wilson will lead during a multiversal threat, and how exactly he’ll survive the wrath of Doctor Doom when he’s at the forefront of the fray.
