The next MCU film has been spoiled by, you guessed it, Funko Pops. It’s a running gag at this point that new Funko Pop announcements give us our first-look at certain characters and for The Thunderbolts it’s not different.

The Thunderbolts is the new team-up film that unites a rag-tag group of “heroes” including Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova and John Walker to face a threat the Avengers aren’t coming to stop.

You can see the explosive trailer below, and dare I say it actually looks like a banger

Of course we’ll reserve our judgement for the time being as Captain America: Brave New World looked pretty good until it, well, didn’t.

Anyway, one of the core characters is Sentry, a superpowered individual who’s basically the Marvel equivalent of Superman but with a few key differences in terms of backstory and powers.

We knew Sentry was going to appear in the film but we hadn’t seen what he’ll look like when he’s all powered up, but now we do thanks to bloody Funko Pops again.

The new figures to promote the film were shared online and in various online threads, with fans commenting on how unexpected this was.

“First reveal through merchandise, never defeated” said one fan, and another added “Like clockwork every time.”

Others replied “Oh God damn it Funko you did this Wiccan and Death now Sentry.”

On the bright side, the design looks pretty good, though I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen the images online yet, just know that it’s pretty much comic-accurate and hasn’t been MCU-ified too badly.

I’m weirdly excited for The Thunderbolts, as for the first time in a long time it feels like an MCU film with a bit more sauce than what we’ve had so far, and I’m excited to see what becomes of the team by the end.
