MCU Has Officially Introduced its Newest Black Panther

Wait... again?

Disney, this is the sixth MCU Black Panther in a row you've brought to class.

That’s right, folks, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has another new Black Panther– although you’d be forgiven for missing out on this news, considering I’ve not heard anyone talk about Disney’s latest show yet.

I’ll be honest, reading this news story actually reminded me that Disney+’s latest MCU show even released, because none of my Marvel-obsessed friends have even mentioned that it dropped.

I am, of course, referring to Eyes of Wakanda, which apparently officially released on August 1st. I'm also now learning that it's the 15th Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series, which just feels like... a bit too much, maybe?

Anyway, if you’re planning to watch Eyes of Wakanda at any point, be warned that I’m going to spoil a few things from this point onwards. Here we go.

According to The Direct's Sam Hargrave, someone new picked up the Black Panther mantle during the fourth episode of Eyes of Wakanda, titled "The Last Panther".

Well, “The Last Panther” refers to the episode’s name and the name of the new Black Panther, because we don’t currently know what their real name is.

Apparently the new Black Panther is actually from the 24th century, and revealed that she had to travel back in time to the MCU's timeline due to an alien invasion. Man, that’s the most comic book sentence I’ve ever seen.

The Last Panther stated that her version of Wakanda was destroyed by a force known as The Horde, and she’s zipped back in time in a bid to save her people.

And, uh… that’s all we know– and potentially all we will know for quite some time.

All of Eyes of Wakanda’s four episodes dropped at once, and it seems that’s all you’ll be getting for now.

We’ll have to see if Marvel decided to follow up on this at some point in the future, potentially with a second season.
