Everyone’s favourite fan-cast for Wolverine was recently asked if he’d be interested in taking the role, and he had a very interesting (and understandable) reason for saying no.
There have been a lot of Wolverine fan-casts over the years, but the debate is heating up once more now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to re-introduce the X-Men.
I’ve seen dozens of great picks for the character, including Jack O'Connell, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Scott Eastwood.
Of course, some are hoping that Disney will bring Henry Cavill back to reprise his role from Deadpool & Wolverine.

Personally, though, there is an objectively correct choice… and that’s Taron Egerton.
Unfortunately, it sounds like he doesn’t want it.
Egerton was asked about the chances of him taking on the role on the Happy Sad Confused podcast (per Dexerto), and the actor had this to say.
“The trouble is, whenever I get asked about this, I have to respond because… I hope I’m a reasonably polite person, but it sounds like I’m the one forcing it. I’m trying to live my life,” Egerton replied.

“There was a moment… where I thought, ‘That’d be cool’... but it never came to anything more than rumour… Hugh came back, and quite right too.”
Ok, but, what if he was offered the role now?
Well, as he revealed, the level of fame that a role in the MCU brings, especially one as big as Wolverine, simply isn’t appealing to him.
“Frankly, if they were to do it… they are some big shoes to fill. Also… I don’t know that I want that much attention on me, frankly. I just don’t know if that’d do me any good, man,” Egerton continued.

“I love acting, I love making films, and I love the TV work I’ve been a part of, but I’m very comfortable with the level it’s at now where I get asked for a selfie maybe a couple of times a day. The other thing that people experience, I just don’t know that I’m built for it.”
You know, it’s a shame for me, because I think he’d be perfect, but it’s hard to be upset about an answer like that.
Marvel levels of fame are simply something else, and I absolutely understand why someone wouldn’t want that. But hey, maybe he can do a Cavill-sized cameo at some point instead?
