The Wolverine has a big part to play in the future of the MCU, and there’s only one man for the job, or so we thought.

Ever since Hugh Jackman returned to the role of Wolverine in the latest Deadpool film the joke “he’s going to be doing this until he’s 90” has been reverberating around the fanbase.

From the sound of it though what was once believed to be a funny gag may have actually been a genuine prediction, as it’s said Hugh Jackman will be playing the role of Wolverine in the MCU for the next 10 years.

Take that with a hefty handful of salt of course because at the time of writing Hugh Jackman is 56 years old, which isn’t that old but he made it clear in the past that his age was becoming a factor in new Wolverine projects.

Most fans are pleased with this, after all he’s the definitive version of the character, but where fans are finding issues is having him be the main Wolverine of the MCU.

In a Reddit thread one fan put it best by saying: “Do I want to see more Hugh as Wolverine? Yes in a multiversal context (do not want him to be the main MCU Wolverine).”

Another added: “Oh god please no. The first three movies are incredible let’s not mess up the legacy with two more MCU films.”

Others are into the idea though, with one saying “my only request is that they keep the same creative leads on for the upcoming sequels” and a few other comments regurgitating the “till you’re 90” bit.

Wolverine’s next MCU appearance will apparently be in Avengers: Secret Wars, where he’ll have a vital role to play and it could potentially lead to an explanation for why Thor was crying in Deadpool And Wolverine…
