Last summer saw Marvel give us our first look at the next big MCU villain and many fans were shocked to see a familiar face.
Of course, I am referring to Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role of Doctor Doom in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday after the actor revealed his new look during last year’s Comic Con.
After playing Tony Stark/Iron Man for well over a decade, many fans thought they had seen the end of Downey Jr. after Iron Man’s demise in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

However, that is seemingly not the case as we now know that he will be playing the next big bad in the next phase of Avengers movies.
Appearing on stage at the aforementioned Comic Con panel, we saw the actor dressed in a green cloak with a simple silver mask.
That being said, it remains to be seen what Doctor Doom will look like when his design is fully completed for Doomsday.
Now according to Culture Base on Twitter, a recent discovery may just give us some insight into said design.

“Potential look at Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday,” the account posted alongside art of a very formidable looking villain.
Sporting a gold-embezzled green cloak and a sharp, metal mask, this looks a lot different to Downey Jr’s stage design.
However, fans were quick to point out that this was art from Alex Ross, an American comic book writer who is no stranger to the superhero universe.
Nevertheless, many agreed that this design would go hard.

“They’re goated for using Alex Ross’s artwork to represent Doctor Doom,” one user commented.
“This obviously isn’t the look the MCU is going for but if it is, I’m very excited regardless.”
Another agreed, adding, “Yo, if this is the look they’re going with, this goes hard.”
It remains to be seen what Doctor Doom’s final design will look like but if it is anything like Ross’ artwork, we are in for a treat.
