It had to happen eventually

One of the most iconic Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be on their way out in Avengers: Doomsday, at least based on recent comments made by the actor behind the character.

There aren’t many Avengers left at this point to miss, considering the likes of Iron Man, Black Widow and Steve Rogers are seemingly gone for good.

However, one actor seemingly implied that they’re moving on from Disney’s MCU franchise in a recent post on social media: Chris Hemsworth himself.

“Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life”, Hemsworth revealed.

“Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable... next up, Doomsday!”

Now, Hemsworth’s post doesn’t outwardly state that he’s on his way out, but it does read like a tribute. You may think we’re just reading between the lines here, but the rest of the fan base seems to have taken it the same way.

At least, that’s how it seems based on the comments in a thread reacting to Hemsworth’s post on the subreddit r/MCUTheories.

“I hope they don’t kill Thor. Mainly because it would make the ending of Love and Thunder an even bigger middle finger to the fans”, commented user tomlymanator.

“If they had saved Jane, there would still have been a “happy ending” for Thor in Love and Thunder, Gorr would have gotten to be with his daughter again in the afterlife, and Jane could have been a successor to Thor, should Thor die in a future movie.”

“Ya. Thor deserve at least one more good solo movie before retiring the character”, replied user Legitimate-Bug133.

“Love and thunder left a really bad taste in the mouth.”

I’m in agreement with the comments on this one, because while Hemsworth does at least have Avengers: Doomsday left, ending on Thor: Love and Thunder just seems like a shame.

Here’s hoping this is all just a misdirect, and we’ll see him back for one final solo movie.
