A new beginning

With the next phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the horizon, there is quite a lot of reshuffling and recasting of its iconic characters.

The Avengers that we knew and loved have disbanded to make way for a new team, and Robert Downey Jr. is back but as a brand-new character entirely.

Check out the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World below!

It is time for a new beginning and that is also the case for Anthony Mackie in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World.

Hitting cinemas on 14 February, Brave New World is the next entry in the Captain America saga where Mackie will now relinquish his role as Falcon to become the next shield-slinging superhero.

However, with the role of Falcon up for grabs, fans were wondering who would now step up to the plate.

Luckily, we now know after Marvel quietly recast the role.

It appears as though Sam Wilson has graciously passed down his mantle and tech to Air Force friend Joaquin Torres, played by Danny Ramirez.

This means that Torres will be donning the wings and taking to the skies alongside Mackie’s Captain America in the upcoming movie.

With the President pushing for the return of the Avengers and formidable new villains appearing on the scene, Sam will need all the help he can get.

So far, we have seen Torres appear in a handful of scenes in the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World - after debuting in Falcon and the Winter Solider - but it is still unclear how much of an impact he will have.

Either way, with Sam Wilson being such a beloved character in the MCU, Ramirez has some big shoes (and wings) to fill.

In related news, it seems a new Spider-Man is also on the cards according to recent comments by one Marvel executive.

It is set to be an exciting few years indeed.
